I've always loved DisplayFusion - it does what it does, does it quietly, and does it well. But today for the first time, your program committed one of the cardinal sins of computing. It prompted me to upgrade, closed itself, and only after installing told me that I'd need to reboot. This is not ok.
I'm now stuck between having to reboot (which I can't do because of some things that are running on my computer), and not having DF running at all. A simple warning before the installation would have prevented this problem. But instead, that information was not provided until after DF had been closed and upgraded, meaning it can't be opened again until the reboot has been completed.
I can't express strongly enough how not ok this is. For most people it's a major annoyance. For the rest of us it's a real problem. Yes, I recognize that I can continue to use my computer without DF, but I would like to be able to take advantage of the software I paid for.
Please fix this in future releases. Hopefully none of them will require reboots, but sometimes they're unavoidable. What is avoidable is being the rudest developers possible, and not providing your customers with critical information up front.
Thanks for the feedback. Most of the time, a reboot isn't required, and it's not known until after the installer runs whether a reboot is required, so that's the reason there was no warning ahead of time. We'll add some text to the updater window for future versions to warn that a reboot may be required in some cases. Note that the next update won't show that message, but the version after that should.
Thanks!
