Apps like Teracopy (small copy window) that were fine back in v6 now spike CPU at > 35-50% while that app is doing it's thing. Also DVDfab9. Until all options excluded = 7 does CPU not spike and would like to see fixed since excluding all my apps defeats purpose of having displayfusion. :)

Bump? I am a licensed pro user is there a better way to report this bug before you make v7 final? It sure seems like multiple applications are causing DF to use huge amounts of CPU and I'm betting most aren't noticing when it's ~35% CPU. But I could use Teracopy back in v6 I believe without this issue. I have not had the time to go do all the version testing to say for sure at what version this became an issue - just that I'm on the last v7 beta and at least this one and the last one exhibit this behavior - possibly further back as well.

Again, certain apps like Teracopy (while copying a file), DVDFab9 (while actively backing up a disc) as 2 examples both spike DF upwards of 30-50% CPU. If I exclude at level 6 or 7 for those 2 apps and perform same operations - DF sits at 0-5% typical usage.

Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the Copy to Clipboard button
  • Open Notepad, paste the text, and save the file
  • Reply with the text file attached

We'll test this out here and can hopefully reproduce it and fix it before 7.0 final :)

Also, if you roll back to 6.1.2, does this issue go away? When I use TeraCopy here, TeraCopy uses about 35% CPU (with or without DisplayFusion running), and DisplayFusion uses about 4% CPU while the TeraCopy is in progress, due to DisplayFusion having to handle the taskbar button progress bar messages sent by TeraCopy. I haven't seen DisplayFusion hit anywhere near 30% CPU while TeraCopy is running yet.

Hi, sorry didn't realize you replied. I am working on setting things back to reproduce and capture the info for you. The version of Teracopy I am using is 2.27 since there are a bunch of known crash issues with later versions. Also, this was happening with a trial version of the latest dvdfab 9 as well. I have not yet rolled back to 6.12 but may try if I have time tonight.

Hi Keith,

What section specifically do you need of the troubleshooting info? It's about 20 pages long and contains a lot of personal file paths, and system info I wouldn't normally be sharing publically, etc can I PM you rather than post publically?

Latest beta now my Teracopy v2.27 sits at exactly 5% copying a 4gb file over the network via gigabit. While at the same time, Displayfusion is hovering at 12-15% in this test. So not sure if this beta changed but even so, triple the CPU usage for my desktop management software than the actual app copying the file still seems wrong. Displayfusion drops to consistently hover approx. 5-7% under normal use.

I will try to test v6 over weekend.

Thanks.

Collin

When you attach the troubleshooting info, there's a checkbox called "Protect these attachments," which makes it so that only I can download them :)

Please let me know how 6.1.2 works out as well.

Thanks!

Just wanted to check and see if you're still running into this issue? If you are, could you try this build?
