I thought this program had virtual desktop support. Apparently not. Why not? It is basically multiple monitors without the ability to see them at the same time. Anyway... I have a situation that I want to know if it can be supported.
I work through the day using a Virtual machine over a VPN. I recently obtained a second monitor which is why I am using this software. When I am working I use my main monitor for work and all my other stuff on the second monitor. However, I would like to save power when possible.
I have noticed that when I shut off my secondary monitor, everything shifts back over to the primary monitor. That is nice but for this particular situation I want to prevent that. I only want the applications on the second desktop to come back to the main monitor when I "pull" them back using some sort of short-cut key or menu driven command. That way when I turn the monitor back on (actually a TV with a remote), all my stuff is still on the secondary monitor without me having to put it all back again. Essentially this amounts to a virtual desktop that is assigned to the second monitor and shows when the monitor is on. It would be nice to have full virtual desktop support too... so that the second desktop COULD be displayed on the 1st monitor if selected. In other words, we would have the ability to assign a virtual desktop to a specific monitor and change that assignment when desired.
Virtual desktops are on our feature request list, but at the moment we don't have any immediate plans to implement them, as there are other third-party programs that already do virtual desktops really well, and Windows 10 has them built-in as well. If we're able to implement them in the future, we'll be sure to let you know!
As for locking windows to the second monitor, that's something that we're hoping to add in a future version, so I've added your vote to the open feature request and will be sure to let you know if/when we're able to implement it.
Thanks!

I'd love to see DisplayFusion support this. I actually was searching through the forums to see if this functionality exists.
What I'd love to see happen is if I'm using a profile with multiple displays (such as when my desktop is logged into my docking station) and then I suspend and remove my laptop and just start using the built in laptop display, that anything on the secondary monitor gets moved to a virtual desktop.
Likewise, if I'm on my single display profile (i.e. using my laptop display) anything on the virtual desktop is moved back to the secondary display.
I'm not sure how feasible this is to do, but it would make going back and forth between my docking station and going mobile much easier.
Vote added, thanks for the details on the usage case, Dan!
