Jon, I think we talked about this before, but have you had a chance to look into Windows 7's ability to use .jpgs instead of enormous .bmp files? I took the DF wallpaper, made a .jpg out of it and reapplied it just fine. (might save on performance and memory)

(don't even ask how many permissions and ownerships I had to dick around with just to get to this folder )

Thanks for the reminder - I'll check it out for the 3.1 beta. :)

I just added this line to the DF change log:

"Changed: Now generates a JPEG file for the wallpaper, instead of a BMP file in Windows Vista and Windows 7"

Hurray, it works perfectly! It's faster to load, and much smaller. :)

Yeah sorry about that. I typed a little text asking if DFP will always save as a JPG and how the JPG was build up, quality wise. But after I tried it out (which I should have done before I started asking :P) I found out the quality is really great, and it's not noticeable at all compared to BMP. So I removed my text and said 'nvm'. :)

Perfect, thanks. I am saving the JPG files with the 100% quality setting, so it should be equivalent to the BMP versions. :)
