With v6 a new "feature" has been added that can not be turned off as far as I can tell. DisplayFusion now has a pop up notification from the taskbar notification area (upon hitting the keys to manually change the background), which notifies that the background is "Finding Random Image" (this should be rather obvious since I just hit the keys to do so).

This notification is unnecessary, and I'd rather not see it as it doesn't look as nice, I would like to turn it off, however it seems I cannot.

To make matters worse, while the notification is up I cannot change the background again until it turns off, previously there was no delay. In its current state this "feature" is a regress, and I suggest the feature should either be disabled or allowed to be toggled off.

I second the wallpaper problems with 6.0 wallpapers. The notifications is annooying, unnecessary and wrong.

In v5.1.1 i never had problems with wallpapers. But in v6.0 it happens very often that screen background is black and I manually must refresh wallpapers to get them back.

Where is the last working version v5.1.1 available?

In the Settings > Advanced Settings > General section, you can enable the "Don't Show Tray Icon Notification Balloons" option to disable them :)

@Anders: For your issue with the wallpaper transitioning to a black background, would you be able to do the following?
  • On the Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "Logging: Important Only"
  • Restart DisplayFusion
  • The next time it occurs, note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Send us the DisplayFusion.log and DebugInfo.html files (can be found by clicking the Open Log button on the Troubleshooting tab)
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

Thanks Keith, that fixes the notification window. I was looking for that in Advanced Settings earlier, but it was apparently too well hidden for my laziness...

Happy to have the notification gone, however the problem with the delay still exists. Previously I could scroll through images rather quickly, as many times as I hit the button--Now I have to wait a good 3-5 seconds before I can change the image again.

Ok, good stuff. The extra delay is likely do to a change we made that prevents multiple wallpaper change threads from stacking up. We'll have a look into it again to see if there's a way to bring back the functionality you're looking for without reverting our other fix :)

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and this issue should be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!
