In my display fuison on desktop i have it watching network folder\desktop pics, when i click in title bar button pause, its jumping ahead to the next image, it doesnt pause on the image, i like (and 99% of the time when it does jump to next image, it's an image im not fond of). Possible bug? (This was at a set interval of 5 minutes)
Which leads me to a request please!
I know ive asked this before.... but i'm/we're really desiring some wallpaper control via titlebar, and right clicking on desktop/taskbar.
could we please have basic functions for wallpapers easily available?
1. load next image
2. load previous image
3. pause current image
4. shuffle all images
5. open image location...it would open the network location where that image resides, and highlight the image on desktop ...my Jriver media center does this when looking through all library files, one just right clicks file and clicks on open on disk external.
I strongly think you guys could increase sales, i know i've had at least 10 people throughout the yrs while using display fusion, that have asked if these simple functions were available.. My Dad being the biggest inquirer.. he loves the national geographic wall papers, and the Scenery wallpapers (that are all named) and many times he walks by his office, and see's a beautiful wallpaper, but it's right at the cycling time, and then when he sits down to enjoy the image, the wallpaper changes on him, and he calls. "i want to show this photo, i want to examine it/admire its beauty, i want to ask you about this photo, can't we just go back wards?" and i have to tell him the only way would be for him to know how to get to his photo's, and then the appropriate folder, and then he'd have to search through hundreds of images.
Right now i have him setup with this - http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/desktop-background-file-location-right-click-menu-windows-7/ Which btw does not work if one uses Display fusion in Personalize, it brings up Displayfusion folder showing and highlighting The windows login background/wallpaper... so in in his case, i have to have display fusion wallpaper disabled for him to be able to be brought to the image explorer location, and to highlight it.
It would be stellar if he could just right click his desktop chose display fusion and all available options mentioned above would be there for him (and the rest of us.)
Maybe some sort of cache could be implemented? (even if the cache only held the last 20, and next 20), so one can can right click, chose display fusion and have easy access to these beautiful wallpapers.
I'd be happy to donate for these few commands!

I've tested out the pause thing here, and can't get the same behaviour to occur. Does it happen every time you click the pause button?

i had it set at the time of writing this @ every 10 seconds, via network drive.. i tested numerous times, and not once could i get it to pause on the current image, it always jumped ahead.
Any eta when these other functions will be implemented?
Thanks Keith
Unfortunately I can't offer an ETA on those functions, sorry.
Regarding the wallpaper pausing, that is probably happening because it takes DisplayFusion longer than 10 seconds to complete the wallpaper switch, so the next one is likely already started when you click the pause button. If you set it to something higher (a few minutes just to test), does this still happen? I know your original post said it was happening with a 5 minute interval, but I can't reproduce it when set to 5 minutes, just wondering if you can try it again.
Thanks!

well it looks as if ive confused myself, and you....
i think what happened was i had display fusion set for 5 minutes as i originally mentioned, but then when looking at right click\ personalize, windows photo slideshow had taken over, and it changed my picture interval down to 10 seconds, because when i went back to display fusion settings ( that was set at 5 minutes, and upon hitting apply the pause worked again) I've now changed it to 1440 and it's working fine.
Would still be willing to donate extra $$ if you guys could throw these features in..
We've been asking for them for quite some time.
Thank You Keith for your help and consideration.

"If you're not comfortable with his steps, I could set up #1, 3 and 5 and export the registry values for you if you like, just let me know."
if it's not to much to ask, i would appreciate this.
i really hope previous doesnt turn out to be alot of work when you guys do dive in. for this would be a great add on.

hey Keith thanks for doing this for us, i don't see the Reg file, but being it only offers play/pause. no worries... we'll just wait in hopes they all get added when the time works for you.
Thanks again.

Thanks Keith!
If there is any possibility of adding the picture location as described in post 1.. that would be stellar!
This option works great when using the windows default switcher (Right click desktop personalize, desktop background.)
http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/desktop-background-file-location-right-click-menu-windows-7/
Thanks again for the pause option!

Also just an fyi... i followed your steps, and even exited display fusion before adding the reg file. and now i have 2 display fusion options upon right clicking.
see screenshot
anyway of removing one of them (the default which does not contain the toggle pause option?)
Thanks!

The file path option is more tricky, and something we'd have to build-in to DisplayFusion itself. It's still open on our list.
To fix the double-entry thing, just delete the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\DisplayFusion
Thanks!

This is stellar news! thanks so much Keith.
Couple questions please...
how long does a feature like this stay in beta? when can we expect it to show up in regular versions?
If we join beta, can we opt out once this feature hits mainstream?
I'd like to get this working for my dad, but want to make sure once released, that i can put him back onto regular releases, so as to provide him with only stable versions (he's not too PC savvy.)
Thanks Keith!

Well i tried your reg deletion trick (no go)
I also rebooted Dad's system to verify there was only 1 Display Fusion entry but still 2. (see pics attached)
I also upgraded his display fusion to beta 5. and then rebooted as well. Still both entries in right click.
One of them has the toggle pause option, and the other has the open wallpaper images in windows explorer option. But neither of them have both options.
The open wallpaper images in windows explorer option does nothing (no explorer windows open.)
Thanks Keith.
P.S. if there are any logs, or info i can provide to help you with this, don't hesitate to ask

All tests were run on the monitor with the slideshow.
changed log to minimal, hit exit, verified closed in task manager, reopened display fusion... @ 3:39PM (about 3:39:40) i right clicked desktop/ monitor that has the slideshow, i then seen windows mouse turn into circle (thinking) and after 3 seconds that icon went back to the default (mouse icon). and nothing happened (no explorer windows opened, no errors.)
It's now 3:44pm and right clicking slideshow monitor reproduces the same results...mouse spins for a few seconds, then returns to mouse, but no explorer windows open.
Thanks Keith... Log Attached.

Ok, we've just posted 7.3 Beta 6 over the weekend, and that should hopefully fix up the Open in Explorer context menu entry. Can you let me know how that works out?

Works!
Thank You!!!
2 small things:
still showing 2 display fusion entries upon right clicking, and the toggle pause is on one, and windows location is in the other.
Anyway for me to consolidate them both and remove one display fusion right click entry? (The reg deletion didn't work for us.)
Thanks Keith!!!

yes there are 2.
Display fusion, and display fusion 2.
I assume remove Display fusion 2, and when the toggle pause is added in future version that will be added to the display fusion (1) automatically ?
Thanks Again Keith!
P.S. i know when i originally deleted it there was only 1. now there is 2...odd.

AWESOME NEWS!
i must be doing something not quite right, or maybe i need to be on beta? (which i'd like to avoid, being i'm doing this for my dad.)
mind having a look at my screenshot and see if i'm missing something?
I've confirmed right click works...opens explorer instantly, but when clicking on the custom function (titlebar) the mouse spins for a few seconds but explorer does not open.
Thanks Keith!

Hey Keith,
One more question... is it possible to create a windows desktop shortcut for this as well?
If so, could you guide me?
Thank you!
It sure is! Just create a desktop shortcut to DisplayFusionSettings.exe, then add the -mode wallpaperopenexplorer to the end of the shortcut target, so it looks like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusionSettings.exe" -mode wallpaperopenexplorer
