Hi,
This is a returning problem for me. Wallpaper profiles that keep losing their associated images.
I have wallpaper profiles connected to monitor profiles.
I switch monitor profiles through functions that have hotkeys associated.
Usually the issue occurs when i temporarily attach an extra monitor. Like for example my iPad using Duet.
Lets say i'm on Monitor Profile A (MPA), which has wallpaperProfile P (WPP) associated.
Then the following scenario occurs:
- MPA is active
- connect an extra screen ( do work )
- disconnect the extra screen
- switch to Monitor Profile B (MPB) that has Wallpaper profile R (WPR). This works. ( play a game, watch a movie )
- switch back to MPA ( to do work )
-- WPP no longer has an associated image.
Now when i try to add the image back into WPP, whenever i switch to MPB and back to MPA, WPP will again have lost the image.
To solve it I have to create a new WPP and associate it.
What am I doing wrong ?

Hello,

Could you send me a copy of your troubleshooting info before you add the extra monitor, and another copy after it's been added and the issue happened? Here are the steps:

Ah... right, now i see what's happening. Please disregard my previous observations, they were incomplete.
Its the changing of the display numbers (display identification number) that's causing it.
.
My 2 main screens in my studio are always 1 and 2, they're also always powered when my PC is on.
When my TV is off, The diningroom monitor gets number 3.
When the TV is on, it always get 3 and diningroom gets 4.
.
When I set a wallpaper in a wallpaperprofile when the number is 4, if I then disable one of my screens, go into standby (which makes windows forget the display) start again, and the number of that display is now 3, this causes the wallpaper to disappear from the profile.
.
To complicate the issue, depending on which monitor profile I run, the numbers of the activated screens change. If I then add a temporary extra screen using Duet, plug in my beamer on occasion, it causes extra number changes. Any wallpaper profiles that have been active during this juggling of the display numbers, will be affected and changed. Thats not good ;-)
.
So the question now is, how do I save a wallpaper profile so it doesn't get affected by changing monitor numbers ?
I tried setting it to "use the same image on each monitor" but that doesn't help.
.
Any way to circumvent this issue or do you still need the troubleshooting info ?

Hello,

Ah yeah, unfortunately the wallpaper profiles are attached to the monitor ID, so that's definitely what's causing this issue :(.

We do have a feature request open for an advanced setting to apply this based on monitor bounds, rather then ID's, which would work around this issue, so I've added your vote to it. We'll be sure to let you know if we have any news on it in the future.

Thanks!

I'm sorry but I don't understand why it makes sense to remove the image to wallpaperprofile association when the wallpaper profile is used on a different display ID than it was created with. Why is that useful?

Hello,

Are those wallpapers being removed from the profile itself, or is the profile not applying because the monitor ID is different than when the profile was saved?

Thanks!

Yes. Thats what i'm trying to say.

The profile applies fine. And because there is no associated image, you get a blanc (black) desktop.

Hello,

Okay strange, does your profile only have 1 wallpaper applied to each monitor, or does it cycle through a series of different images?

Thanks!
