Yikes, ive been spinning my wheels on this all day now.

I took and exported my displayfusion settings to begin using it on my 2nd pc. After importing the .reg, everything took. Everything but the string inside the WindowsPositionProfiles folder.

that will NOT merge, no matter what I try to do. Ive tried a manual export. Ive tried an export via robocopy. Ive tried a double click merge. Ive tried a regedit > file > import merge. Ive tried a regedit as admin > file > import merge.

that alphanumeric key thats responsible for the window position profile/settings just wont merge.

The Key is there, but only populates with the (default) string, nothing else.

I give up!

You need to export the settings via DisplayFusion (Settings > Options > Export). Windows doesn't export the line breaks correctly, so DF exports it as a base64 encoded string instead :)

well, im quite relieved that is the case. You saved me more time and heartache when i inevitebly failed at figuring it out.

means ill have to purge the exportation of said key from my robocopy backup script and remember to do it manually every so often :P

You can do it via the command line as well, like so:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusionCommand.exe" -settingsbackup "file path"

Code

"C:\Users\klepp\Dropbox\Downloads\Windows\Applications\DisplayFusion\DisplayFusionCommand.exe" -settingsbackup "C:\Users\klepp\Desktop"

tried as a cmd and bat fwiw. as admin/otherwise.

Sorry yep, it needs a file name for the output file (e.g. settings.reg).

SOLVED: It seems it could not import it correctly from a network share, did id manually from a local share worked.

I exported and imported the settings on a new PC. But I don't get any of my triggers / functions or windows position profiles on the new PC. Tried it several times.

I was using the demo version when I created them. But bought the license and activated it before exporting. Could that be the issue?

Version 9.6.1 / Windows 10 on both (old and new machine).
