I have Windows 7, and intend to keep it for the foreseeable future. Video wallpaper worked fine for me in 8.0 Beta 5, but now on the 8.0 release, I see that that feature is removed on Windows 7 because of "technical limits." What were the technical limits? It seemed to work fine in the beta. I find it hard to believe that Windows 8+ is significantly different in that regard. What gives? Thanks.
There were quite a few issues we ran into during testing, and that customers ran into on the betas as well. However! We added an Advanced Setting to enable it if you want to still use it, for folks that didn't have any trouble with it. In the Settings window, click Advanced Settings, then enable the "Allow All Sources in All Versions of Windows" option that's in the Wallpaper section.
Hope that helps!
Well I guess that's a good consolation. Don't ever remove the advanced settings like that! I appreciate all the settings DF has.
I also hope you haven't given up on video wallpaper for Windows 7 entirely. After all, Windows 7 can natively play video wallpapers once you enable it. But would be nice to be able to have more control over them, like the kind DF provides (hopefully including allowing scaling/trimming to make 16:9 videos look good on 16:10 and/or allowing the background color to be changed).
