Hello,

First, thank you for such a wonderful product! I've been using it for quite a while at home and work.

I am having an issue with the Window Location feature.

I have 2 monitors (both at 1680x1050 resolution). What I want is for the application to always start on monitor 2. When I start the application it shows a login dialog on monitor 1 (it did that before, which is fine). As soon as I login, the main window use to pop up and move to monitor 2. It is currently staying on monitor 1.

I saw the note about the monitor numbers changing. I deleted my old Windows Location entry and created a new one so the monitor now says 2.

The application is an old VB6 application (Called TrackerTrailer.exe). I can provide any details if you want. (I have the source code for the app, but I cannot give it out)

I attached the relevant log entries.

Using Windows 7 Enterprise (64bit) SP1. I do have some group policies in effect but it shouldn't matter for window positioning.

Thank you!

Update: Well, 2 seconds after I posted, I found a work around. Seems that if the application comes up maximized it doesn't move to the second monitor. I unmaximized the application window. Moved it to the second monitor and sized the window to what I wanted. Then I closed the application and opened it again and it moved to the second window. As long as I don't have the window maximized it seems to work.

Well... I'm not sure I would call it fixed though. A window should still move even when maximized.

Thought I'd note that Beta 13 didn't help this issue.

Thanks!

Just wanted to check, did the Window Location rule work previously with this application? Or has it always been broken?

It has worked until recently. I will try the last stable version to see if it was introduced in the beta.

The Window Location works fine with version 3.4.0. The window is maximized when it comes up and moves to the second monitor.

Quick follow-up, this should be all fixed up in Beta 14 :)

If you get a chance to try it out, please let me know how it goes!

Ok, we had originally missed something in the debug log that you attached, but we're pretty sure we've gotten it sorted out now. I'll let you know as soon as there's a new version to test.

Thanks!

Just a quick follow-up on this. It should be all fixed up in 3.4.1 final, which can be downloaded here: http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/

Thanks!

I'm using 3.4.1. Doesn't look like that fixed it.

The program remembers it's last window state. So if it was maximized when you closed the program, it will open maximized.

It appears the problem is still happening. It works if the window is not maximized.

I attached another log file if that helps.

Ok, thanks for the follow-up. I apologize for the issues, we had to make some changes to the Window Location stuff to make it work better with other applications, but it may still need some tweaking. We'll look into it some more and I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

Terrific! It works! :)

My login box and the screen after the login box both stay on the right monitor (using All Windows in Location settings).

Thank you so much!
