Small amount of background:

Recently switched to a Samsung CF791 34" widescreen for my center display for gaming. Repurposed my other monitors and spent many hours adjusting my work flows and dealing with the various issues associated with multiple monitors using Displayport and the constant fight with Windows moving stuff around when the monitors tell Windows they are turned off ...

The long and short of it is that I started using the splits capability of Displayfusion and it made my life much better ... until last night. Now my leftmost monitor is randomly dropping it's split config. I have of course saved a profile and can reload it but I have to load it all the time and for the first week it worked perfectly.

I have restarted my computer after loading the profile and verifying it is active and when it comes up the profile is missing the left monitor config; just the left monitor.

Is there anything that I can upload that will help diagnosing the problem?

That's strange! I'm not sure what would be causing that. Could you send me two copies of your troubleshooting info? One copy when the splits are fine, and one after the left monitor has lost its splits?

Working on it, of course now that I need it to disappear it has lasted longer than it has in days :)

I was still doing it this morning when I created another profile just in case it was related to the fact that a profile existed (I don't think it started going away until after I created a profile to make sure I did not lose the config).

I also assigned a hotkey sequence so I can restore it quickly. I will post both files as soon as it goes away again.

Ok, so managed to get it to go away, I put my monitors to sleep, when they came back up, it was gone.

Here are the files:

Thanks! Does this happen when you manually turn the monitors off and back on, or when Windows puts the monitors to sleep?

Ok, my apologies for not getting back to you sooner but I was out of town for a bit.

So the split disappears when I turn the monitor off, when windows puts them to sleep or even when I exit DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration - what I mean by that is (for example) this morning I made a new configuration. I have dropped all but the 1080 frame (split) on the left most monitor and I have that set up with a hotkey so I can apply it any time (which I have to do twice when I do it). I created a new split on the 34" widescreen at 50% and saved my config. In order to do that I had to load the 1080 frame (it was not loaded) then split the center monitor, save the config, apply it, say ok (closed DF) tried my new config, did not like it, loaded DF ... the left most 1080 frame was gone, the center monitor split was still there (the 1080 frame is still in the config that was saved, it just keeps making that one disappear.

Ok, we've made a bunch of monitor config changes for the latest version. Could you give this build a try and let me know if the results are the same, or different?

I will, and now for something completely ... strange.

So the other day I think I loaded my wallpaper config to force it to restore the images (it sometimes loses the images when my system wakes up), everything was fine, the images came up, then when I went to exit DisplayFusion I got a prompt to save my config (or reverting), I saved ... now my leftmost split (the one that was disappearing) stays.

This is weeks after the problem initially manifested and perhaps 50-70 loads (and many config saves) of DisplayFusion. I know the monitor config save is different from the splits profile save but ... I have no idea.

Yesterday I changed my rightmost monitor from DualDVI to another displayport cable, now all 3 are using displayport, was hoping this would stop Windows from moving everything around ... of course it is worse. The interesting thing is that with those changes I had to re-do everything since the monitor number changed (for one monitor). Several saves of the monitor config, several saves of the splits config and everything is holding stable.

That's good to hear! I was actually able to reproduce the splits disappearing yesterday. I believe it has something to do with having a DisplayPort monitor and the monitors sleeping at the Windows lock screen. I've added it to our list for our devs to investigate further :)

I'm not able to reproduce the issue with the splits disappearing any more in the latest beta. Could you give it a try and let me know if you still run into this issue?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm having this same issue where the split frames normally seen in "red" are now missing.

@Triniman: I don't believe DisplayFusion has a way to show the split frames in red. Could you elaborate on what you're seeing?

When a laptop with external DP monitor sleeps or nvidia driver updates, displayfusion still loses the splits and I have to set them up again every time.

Hello,

Are the splits attached to a monitor profile?

Thanks!

Yes, and recently I have been getting this error when resuming from sleep:

An error has occurred while applying your new Monitor configuration.
Please check your settings and try again.
Error: Failed to call SetDisplayConfig. [HR: 87]

Hello,

When your computer wakes from sleep, if you open up the DisplayFusion Monitor Configuration window, is your profile shown as detected in the upper left corner?

Are you loading this profile manually, or do you have it attached to a trigger?

Thanks!
