I'm 99% sure this isn't a DisplayFusion issue, but my IT department is making me ask. Whenever I try to open a Windows Store app, I receive an access denied error (attached)... "This app has been blocked by your system administrator."

They tell me it isn't due to AppLocker, but I'm still pressing them on it.

But still, I had to ask.

As a Windows user, I can tell you that this is not due to a problem with DisplayFusion. I've had DF since windows 8 (I use 10 now) and never ever had this problem. I would ask your IT department to double check the applocker settings for your computer.

If you really do believe that DisplayFusion is the culprit, you can try completely exiting DF, and then try to run the app again. If the app fails to load after that, DF is definitely not the cause. Good luck!

Oh I know, Jason, but they made me ask. I'm sure that's the issue as well, but they don't recognize DisplayFusion so - of course - didn't trust it.

I'm pointing them to this, as it's exactly what I encounter, but they don't seem to listen.

I even ran `Get-AppLockerPolicy -Effective` and sent them the output with every `EnforcementMode="NotConfigured"` but they still aren't listening.

Sigh.

I'm pretty well versed, when it comes to Windows. The biggest clue is the error message, which explicitly states that the app has been blocked by your system administrator.

I'm going to guess that completely quitting displayfusion, and then trying to open an app will still give you the same error. If it does, then you can tell them it is definitely NOT DisplayFusion.

I have a decent bit of experience with windows XP, all the way up to windows 10, including

XP Home.Pro
Vista Home
7 Home/Pro/Ultimate
8/8.1 Home/pro
10 home/pro.

I'm almost 100% sure that quitting, or even uninstalling DisplayFusion will make no difference, and you will still get this error, until they fix the AppLocker

sorry. that was kinda for your IT dept, so they would understand they're talking to someone who knows a bit.

Hope they listen now :)

Sorry for the late reply! That's frustrating for sure, but I can confirm that it's not DisplayFusion causing this issue :)

Small update, in case this discussion ends up the result of a Google search...

It's definitely AppLocker as we all assume. A number of searches finally led me to look into Windows event viewer, specifically at:
Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > AppLocker > Packaged app-Deployment
.

This led me to: https://rcmtech.wordpress.com/2016/03/22/applocker-executable-policy-breaks-windows-10-jump-lists/, something which I had asked my IT department to do days ago.

Which in turn took me to some possible fixing steps, at http://justforadmins.blogspot.com/2016/09/fixed-windows-10-start-button-does-not.html.

Some combination of creating the default rules (gpedit.msc >
Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Application Control Policies > AppLocker > Packaged app Rules
> right-click > Create Default Rules alongside starting and stopping
appidsvc
and
gpupdate /force
seems to have mostly fixed the problem. I say mostly because Clock, VPN, and all of settings work. Just not CALC for some reason - argh!
