Not sure if this is a bug, or something being worked on.

When I open the start menu on either my 2nd or 3rd monitor the start menu will open on the main monitor first with animation, then "Jump" to the correct monitor after a few moments....

nothing major but thought I would mention it on here.

Having the same issue here, but jumping, sometimes not working at all, and sometimes it goes crazy and jumps back and forth between monitors.

After initially updating, my start menu opened on my secondary monitor, after flickering on the primary for an instant. Then, however, it wouldn't open on the primary again until I restarted. Even after quitting display fusion. I read somewhere that they "hook" the start menu after it opens, which explains the flicker, but I'm not sure why it permanently moved my start menu to the secondary screen. It got so frustrating that I've now stopped using a displayfusion in favor of the built-in windows options, which aren't as good, but don't cause the issues I've experienced.

The issue of it opening on the Primary before moving is a known issue. This is because we can't hook it like we used to be able to, so instead we have to wait for it to open, then poll for it and move it. It's not ideal, but it's the best we were able to do at the moment. We are keeping this open on our list though, in the hopes that we'll find a more elegant solution :)

Regarding the issues of it not moving back to the Primary, I haven't run into that here. Could you guys attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?
  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the Copy to Clipboard button
  • Open Notepad, paste the text, and save the file
  • Reply with the text file attached

Thanks!

We've just released a new DisplayFusion beta version (http://www.displayfusion.com/Download/Beta/) and most of the Start menu issues should be fixed up now. For setups where font/DPI scaling is not used, the Start menu will open directly on whatever monitor you clicked the Start button on. For setups where the non-Primary monitors have different DPI scaling settings, the Start menu will open on the Primary monitor, then move to the monitor you clicked the Start button on.

Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm using version 7.3.1 and the beta download link provided isn't valid anymore so I assume there is no beta at this time, however I experience the exact same issue as described by OP. Was this fixed or am I the only one still having this bug?
BTW. my Skype window only snaps to horizontal edges and not vertical ones between monitors, am I also the only one? Other windows work fine.

Skype actually has it's own window snapping built-in, so DisplayFusion doesn't try to snap it when it's dragged. If you exit DisplayFusion, then drag Skype to the edges do you get the same results?

Regarding the Start menu issue, do you have different scaling levels set on each monitor? DisplayFusion still has to use the old method where it opens it on Primary first, then moves it, if the monitors are different scaling levels.

Hello,
I am actually using Nvidia Surround to merge 3 monitors into one, that's probably why Skype won't snap, I thought DP might help. Also because of the Surround my scaling level is 100% on all screens. Sometimes I can get the start menu to open directly on the desired monitor for example my left screen instead of the middle one, but then when I click start menu on yet another monitor it opens again on the left monitor instead.

Ah ok, that explains the Start menu opening on Primary first, then moving to the other monitor as well. The method to open it directly only works if the Start button is on the far left side. If a monitor is split (like in a Surround setup) the other Start buttons have to open it on the far left first, then move it. It's not ideal, but Windows just won't let us invoke the Start menu directly unless it's in the bottom left corner of the monitor :(
