Hi There!
Disclaimer: Yes, I know Windows 10 is in Tech Preview, unstable, feature incomplete and what I am asking for may not be feasible now or may even be covered by Microsoft in the future. But if you don't ask how will you know? And with that I pose my suggestion.
Little backstory:
I've always been an avid user of Technical Previews and I was over the moon with the Windows 10 one. Especially Virtual Desktops. I use DisplayFusion and VirtualWin for my work PC to manage my workflow. I only have two screens and web development generally requires both.
I've got a setup where I've got Chrome + Inspector on my left screen and my right screen has Skype smallest width and Visual Studio. I use 2 function in DF to snap on my main screen windows to the "Skype Snap" (Secondary) or the "Visual Studio Snap" (Main). Then I use VirtualWin to provide 4 desktops. 1st being general, 2nd being work and 3/4 whatever.
The biggest advantage I have with VirtualWin (Never tried Dexpot) is key mapping. Skype is set to show on every virtual desktop always. I have 9 Key Mappings:
- 4x Switch Monitor
- 4x Move Window to monitor (Switch Monitor + Shift)
- 1x Toggle window to show on all Virtual Desktops
This makes for a really easy power user workflow.
The Suggestion:
What I was hoping to see was DisplayFusion implementing functions for the Windows 10 Virtual Desktops. That way I can use the awesome Windows 10 Desktops and still get all the functionality I like with VirtualWin on my Windows 8.
My Function Ideas:
- Change to Desktop X
- Move Window to Desktop X/Left/Right/New
- Toggle Show Window on all Desktops
I'm sure there are tons more, but unless adding Functions are easy I think this would need consideration time anyway!
Thanks for reading,
Oliver
P.S: If suggestions are supposed to go somewhere specific sorry, I tried looking.
