Hi,

I'm getting the following error when I try to launch DisplayFusion through steam:

"Your steam license key failed to load correctly. Please exist this installation and try clicking install or launch again from within steam"

I have just installed windows 10 on my PC (from Windows 7) and tried reinstalling DisplayFusion which gives me the above error. I have reinstalled through steam, restarted steam, and rebooted - nothing has done anything to improve the situation. I'm also running steam/DisplayFusion through administrator account.

Is there a fix for this?

I copied the post from a previous problem with Windows 8.1, it's the exact same one and I've tried the exact same things.

Hello!

Unfortunately Valve released a Steam beta client update that broke the DisplayFusion licensing last week. They have fixed the bug and released a new beta client, here is what you need to do to get DisplayFusion working again:

- In your Steam client, click "Steam > Check for Steam Client Updates"
- After restarting Steam, right-click DisplayFusion in your games list and click "Delete Local Content"
- Don't worry, your settings will be saved!
- After DisplayFusion is removed, right-click it again and click "Install"
- After Steam installs DisplayFusion, launch DisplayFusion through Steam
- You must launch DisplayFusion through Steam the first time, NOT the start menu, so that the licensing is setup correctly

If you still have issues with your Steam license please let me know. :)

Thanks!

If the latest Steam beta doesn't fix this up, try reverting Steam to the stable version, then installing DisplayFusion.

Still doesn't fix it. As a side question, why doesn't display fusion offer the license as a cd key? Primarily in case this sort of issue occurs?

This does not work.
I was not in Steam Beta updates, fails to launch with licensing error.
Changed Steam to include Beta updates, fails to launch with licensing error.
Revert Steam to non Beta updates, fails to launch with licensing error.

So, when is this going to be fixed?

Hi all!

There was a new Steam beta released today, and it looks like this is finally fixed up. I've tested it myself and the installation worked great. Could you try it out now and let me know how it works out? Here are the steps again if needed:
  • Go to Steam > Settings > Account
  • In the "Beta participation" section, click the "Change" button
  • Choose "Steam Beta update" from the drop-down, then click OK
  • Click OK again, and you should get prompted to restart Steam to install the new beta
  • After it restarts, try installing DisplayFusion again

Yes thankyou, this is working fine now.
Now I just have to resolve my gpu issue's with NVidia as my 980Ti appears to be fried in the post 364 debacle so I can use multiple monitors again, the irony...

Glad to hear it, guys! The folks at Valve pushed out a new Stable version last night as well, so it should be fixed up for both the stable and the beta versions of Steam now :)
