Hi,

Since I've upgraded to Windows 11 24H2 from 23H2 switching monitor profiles doesn't restore the same state (tried with the latest stable and also DF11 beta 7 and beta 8).

I have 3 displays, 2 of them is active in one profile for desktop, the 3rd monitor is used for simracing, I switch with hotkeys between the two profiles.

When I switch to the single monitor profile, it works fine, but switching back to the other two displays it takes a long time, blinks and activate monitors in the following order:
- First the two monitors are active but in clone mode
- Then it blinks again and one monitor and the 3rd monitor is active
- Then it blinks again and activate the two correct monitors, but my main is the left and this setting is lost, it always sets the right side as the main

Maybe the monitor order is causing some new issues, the simracing UW monitor is the 1st, monitor on right side is the 2nd and my main monitor is the 3rd.

I've attached debug log with L1 level, let me know if you need a more detailed log file, this should contain a switch to each of the profiles.

Are those two monitors supposed to be cloned or extended?

They're supposed to be extended.

Same here with extended monitors.
After starting windows profiles load, after 1 monitor switch profiles donĀ“t load anymore.
I always have to set the monitor setting via the windows dialogue again.
Then the profile is loading.
In additon to that, soundcard settings are often wrong.

Interesting thanks for confirming. If you create a new profile and try to load it, does the same issue happen?

Yes, before I created the issue, I've recreated the profiles, both with the current stable version and later with the latest beta.

On 23H2 I had no issues.

Edit: I didn't try with manual switch, only via the hotkeys. I'll check later.

I've checked, switching profiles via the app's context menu does the exact same thing, no difference comparing to hotkey switch.

Okay interesting, there are some fails in the log you sent that gave us a lead. We'll let you know if we need any other info here.

We've released a new beta with some changes that might help here, can you try it out and let me know if the issue persists?

With the new beta there are still exactly the same problems.

@RetroButton Can you send me an updated log from beta 9?

Here is the new log.
Since 24H2 DisplayFusion drives me mad.
Was working like charm until that.
Maybe Microsoft has killed some things.

Hope you can fix these problems.

Monitor switch from my third monitor back to my 2 other monitors was 13:09.

Monitors are switching back, but it does not set the previous config (expand).
It stays on "copy".
After setting the monitor config to "expand" using the OS dialogue, everything is fine, and the profile is loaded by DisplayFusion.

Did you send the correct file over? That log takes places from 16:19 - 16:22, it doesn't have a capture at 13:09

My fault.
Think i forgot to activate the debug logging.

Nevertheless, here are the new logs.
About 19:02, i switched from my 2 desktop monitors to my third monitor. Works.
At about 19:03 i switched back.
Monitor profile is not loaded. I have to manually set my monitors to stretch.

I think we have a mix up here again, that log starts at 19:04:56 :D

Can you try these steps one more time?

  • On the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab, change the Logging drop-down to "L1: Log Minimal" and click Apply
  • Reproduce the issue and note the time so we'll know where to check in the log file
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button on the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Reply with the file attached
  • Disable debug logging after sending the log

And here is the actual log.
19:51: switched from my dual monitors to third monitor
19:52: back from third monitor to dual monitors
19:53: setting the correct mode "extend" (not duplicate) via windows dialogue for my dual monitors

I am also experiencing this. The writeup in the first post is almost a perfect description of what happens. It's happening to me with DF 10.latest and the 11 betas. It all started after I upgraded to 24H2.

Tried the new beta, and it seems much, much better.
For me, there is only one problem left.
After switching back to my primary two monitors with beta 10 the primary monitor is always wrong.
I have to set the primary using the windows dialogue.

  • Open the DisplayFusion Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Export Info to File" button
  • Reply with the file attached
