I am using the displayfusion pro trial 8.1.2 version. When I restarted my pc my Aero features stopped working. I checked the settings under options but that area is greyed out. What can I do to resolve this? I am enjoying the software so far other than this issue.

Thanks

Can you try this?
  • Open the Start menu, right-click "Computer" and choose "Properties"
  • Click "Advanced System Settings"
  • Click "Settings" in the "Performance" section
  • Make sure that "Enable desktop composition" is enabled
  • If that doesn't help, also right-click the desktop, choose "Personalize," and set the theme to one of the ones in the "Aero Themes" sections

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response. I have tried each suggestion without any progress. When I go into personalization, all the Aero Themes are greyed out and I cannot click on them. Anyother suggestions?

Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info? Here are the steps:
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks! The troubleshooting info still shows DWM as not being enabled for some reason. If you go to Start > Run > services.msc, is the "Themes" service listed as "Started?"

Ok, strange! I'm not sure what else would be causing the Aero themes to not be available. If you disable DisplayFusion from startup, then reboot, does that change anything?

Wow, that's definitely strange! If you manually start DisplayFusion does Aero get disabled again?

If so, it's possible that there are some Compatibility options set on DisplayFusion.exe that are causing that to happen.

Could you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\DisplayFusion, right-click DisplayFusion.exe, choose Properties, and make sure all of the options on the Compatibility tab are disabled?

I looked at the compatibility options under properties, nothing was enabled. I then changed my wallpaper using displayfusion and restarted my pc. When it loaded, the aero features were again not functioning and greyed out in the displayfusion settings. I then decided to restart pc again without changing anything and the aero features returned.

So, I can change my wallpaper with displayfusion and it works fine initially, however, if pc is restarted the aero features don't load properly so I have to restart again. The number of restarts seem to be random.

Does this mean anything to you?

Thanks for spending the time on this.

Interesting, are there any Compatibility options enabled on DisplayFusionService.exe or DisplayFusionSettings.exe?

No compatibility options checked on either.

I'm stumped, it's strange that manually starting DisplayFusion is fine, but when it loads on startup it's not. Could you try the latest beta version?

I install the version you sent me and I changed my wallpaper and restarted my pc several times, each time it worked as it should. The aero features never stopped working!

Thanks for the time you spent on this.
