I am having some problems with setting the location of Firefox (41.0.2) using DisplayFusion 7.3.1 on Windows 10. For most applications I can set which monitor and where to open and it works okay. For example, I might want Explorer to open on monitor #3 on the bottom left and be 100% wide and 50% high. When I do the same thing within Firefox DisplayFusion opens Firefox in a HUGE window. I don't know how big it is but it takes several times to manually shrink it so it is visible on one screen. None of the settings I've tried seem to make any difference. I've even "Dragged the icon to the target window" without any luck.

If it helps I have 3 monitors, one 4k in the middle, and 2 1080p portrait monitors on each side.

Any ideas why this works for most apps but does not work with Firefox?

Thanks!

Could you attach a copy of your troubleshooting info?
  • Open the Settings > Troubleshooting tab
  • Click the "Copy to Clipboard" button
  • Paste the text into a text file (please don't paste the text directly into your reply, the formatting gets garbled and makes it difficult to parse)
  • Reply with the file attached

Thanks!

Thanks! Could you attach a screenshot of the Window Location rule you've setup for Firefox as well?

Hi, the screenshot is attached. Also, it is hard to get an exact size but once this rule is enabled the firefox window is larger than all 3 of my screens combined. It is not maximized, just HUGE.

Thanks! It looks like this is a bug in Firefox when positioning it on a monitor that's a lower DPI scaling level than the primary monitor. I was able to reproduce it here as well, so I've added it to our list. We'll see if there's anything we can do to fix it up from our end :)

Do you know if this was resolved in the new 8.0 beta? It sounds like the location part got a pretty big upgrade but unsure if that impacts this but or not.

I was curious if there was any update on this? I've checked with the latest version of Firefox (43.0.4) and DisplayFusion (7.3.2) and am still having the same problem.

Thanks!

I'm curious if there are any updates on this? I've recently started using Cisco Jabber (IM Client) which displays the exact same behavior as Firefox. Currently running DisplayFusion 7.3.4 on Windows 10, Build 1511.

Thanks!

Not yet, sorry, but we're hoping to resolve it for the final version of 8.0. We'll be sure to post an update when we are able to get it fixed up.

Thanks!

Last month, we released DisplayFusion 8.0, and this issue should be all fixed up. If you still have any trouble with 8.0, please let us know!

Thanks!
